OWN RARE KARUIZAWA "TEST BATCH" WHISKY CASKS
2022 Vintage Karuizawa Whisky "Test Batch" Casks (2)

The name Karuizawa commands an almost mythical status in whisky collecting. Revered for its meticulous craftsmanship and uncompromising quality, Karuizawa single malts are among the rarest and most sought-after in existence. Built in 1956 at the foothills of Mount Asama, the distillery produced sherried single malts in small quantities, earning a cult following before its closure in 2000. Over the past two decades, Karuizawa bottles have set records at auction, their scarcity fueling unprecedented demand.
In 2022, after more than 20 years of dormancy, Karuizawa Distillery reawakened, led by original master distiller Osami Uchibori (Uchibori-san) and his protégé, Nakazato-san. That same year, Uchibori-san personally oversaw the production of a single test batch of just 20 casks before his passing, marking the final liquid he ever crafted. These casks represent not only the rebirth of one of Japan’s most celebrated whisky houses but also Uchibori-san’s lasting legacy.
We are offering an exclusive opportunity to own two of these historic 2022 casks, which are the only community-owned sister casks from this release. The remaining casks are held privately or by the distillery itself. Distilled using traditional methods and matured in sherry casks, these casks embody the meticulous craftsmanship and unique terroir that define Karuizawa whisky. Their production adhered to the same rigorous standards as the original distillery, with stills and equipment recreated to precise specifications.
Stored on-site under the supervision of Master Distiller Nakazato-san, these casks will not be bottled before reaching at least 10 years of age, ensuring optimal maturation. With Japanese whisky continuing to outperform global spirits markets, these casks offer a rare intersection of history, craftsmanship, and investment potential - marking the first step in Karuizawa’s next legendary chapter.
